How matches are found
Each assessment is translated into the Step 2 score it typically corresponds to, which lets the site compare different assessments. Your pattern of scores is then compared with each public report. Reports with more of the same assessments count as closer matches, although students can still match after taking different forms.
Timing changes the Step 2 equivalent assigned to each result; it does not simply give every newer assessment more weight. Enter when you took an assessment beside its score, or use timing carried over from the predictor.

Why can a report match mine if we took different tests?

Does it matter when I took my tests?
Yes. Timing changes the Step 2 equivalent assigned to each result rather than simply giving every newer assessment more weight. Without timing, the site uses the typical timing for that assessment. Enter timing here or use timing carried over from the predictor.
What does the match percentage mean?
It is a relative similarity score for the overall pattern of practice results. Higher values mean a closer match. It is not a probability, and 100% is not expected even for very close profiles.
How should I use the matched scores?
Use the range across the group to see what happened among students with similar practice results. Public score releases may overrepresent higher scorers, and fewer close matches are available at the highest and lowest scores, so use the group range rather than relying on any one person’s result.
Where does the data come from?
The data consists of anonymized score reports posted publicly on r/Step2. Assessment results and actual Step 2 scores were retained; usernames were excluded. Matching runs in your browser and entries are saved locally. If you create a shared link, its address contains the scores in that profile.
Can I see only people who reached my target?
Yes. Set a target under “Outcomes at your target,” then choose “Show reports at or above target.”
