How matches are found
Assessment scores are placed on a common Step 2 scale, then compared with each public score report. Reports that share more of your assessments receive additional weight, although someone can still be a close match after taking different forms.
When timing is available, the comparison also accounts for how long before Step 2 each assessment was taken. Enter it beside a selected assessment or use timing carried over from the predictor.
Common questions
Why can a report match mine if we took different tests?
Scores from different assessments are converted to a common Step 2 scale. Reports that include the same assessments as yours receive additional weight, so most matches still share at least one exam.
Does it matter when I took my tests?
Yes. Scores taken closer to the exam generally receive more weight. Without timing, the matcher uses the typical timing for each assessment. Enter it here or use timing carried over from the predictor.
What does the match percentage mean?
It summarizes how similar that person’s practice results are to yours overall. A higher percentage means a closer practice-score profile. It is not the probability of earning that person’s score.
How should I use the matched scores?
Use the group range to understand outcomes observed among similar reports. Each individual report is one observation, public score releases may overrepresent higher scorers, and fewer close matches are available at the highest and lowest scores.
Where does the data come from?
The data consists of anonymized score reports posted publicly on r/Step2. Assessment results and actual Step 2 scores were retained; usernames were excluded. Matching runs in your browser and entries are saved locally. If you create a shared link, its address contains the scores in that profile.
Can I see only people who reached my target?
Yes. Set a target under “Outcomes at your target,” then choose “Show reports at or above target.”
